“Girl, How Did You Get Those Brows?”

23 Mar

Hi Beauties,

A few weeks ago I posted a pic that sparked a few questions about how I fill in my brows. My routine by NO means was an overnight success, it took a lot of trial and error to find one that worked.

I used to try to fill them in with eyeshadow, but they didn’t seem natural enough and sometimes very harsh looking. I also tried the pencil method, but the end result wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I started watching a lot of Youtube videos and began mixing both techniques with a little concealer to achieve the “BROWS” I proudly sport today.

image

Tools/Products Used: MAC Lip Pencil Chestnut , Sonia Kashuk flat angle brush (target) MAC NW45 Concealer, MAC flat brush (212 is similar number is rubbed off) w-Embark Eyeshadow, MAC Pencil Brush 219. I also love using a spooley brush, which is basically a mascara wand. It’s really good for grooming the eyebrows in place once you’ve filled them in.

Step 1-2

Outline brows (top & bottom) with the pencil of  your choice. Do not use black to outline or fill in the entire brow.  It is okay to use black if you use small, soft strokes to define the tail of your brow (end).

Step 3

Use a natural color eyeshadow with a flat brush to fill in your brows. Use extremely soft strokes as you fill in the outer portion, leaving the very tip semi filled in.

Step 4-5

Use concealer with a flat angle brush to outline and clean-up brows. This will make those brows POP and can also serve as a base for your eyebrow highlight.

Step 6

Use a small dense brush to feather the concealer into your skin.

Step 7

Starting at the outer tip, use the same dense brush to blend the concealer outward giving your brows a airbrushed faded look.

Look of the day: Blue Ivy

22 Mar

Hi Beauties…I decided to go out yesterday and enjoy the beautiful weather. I had to do a little running around so I wanted to be comfortable yet stylish. I layered a pinstripe blouse with a chunky small necklace, and a longer link one. The earrings, blue cocktail ring, and blue arm cuff are my fave. They are vintage pieces from my grandmother’s collection that I paired with a few gold bracelets. I put on a pair of old jeans, floral wedges, and a blue studded out bag. “Blue Ivy” look of the day. I hope you enjoy!!!!

St. Patrick’s Day Look 2012

18 Mar

Hi Beauties…I trust that everyone had a beautiful and safe St. Patrick’s day. So I have to be honest, I usually have no idea when St. Patrick’s Day really is. I would be out at one of the neighborhood bars, and would randomly see people dressed in all green when I put two and two together. Every year I would say that looks fun….oh we should dress up next year (by dress up I clearly mean a Tee lol). Well, this year” I DID IT” and my husband and I had a ball. Here a few pics of my makeup for the festivities….FYI I was in a rush so I took pics with my Iphone. Hope you enjoy!!!

Wet N Wild 8 Palette Review

4 Dec

Hi Beauties…I hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend. As promised, I wanted to share this EXTREMELY late review on the Wet N Wild 8 Palettes that came out earlier this year.  Each palette was $4.99 and I purchased them from Walgreens.  If you are look for some new vibrant colors that are budget friendly these shadows are perfect for you.

Comfort Zone is the perfect Neutral palette. The colors are very warm tone and have a nice mix of matte/shimmer shadows.

Petal Pusher in all honesty, this palette is my  least favorite out of the three. I find that the colors are very chalky and not as vibrant as the other colors in the collection.

Blue had me at hello is my FREAKIN Favorite. The name speaks for itself….the colors are BOLD and BEAUTIFUL!!!

PROS:

  • inexpensive
  • colors are vibrant and silky
  • ability to create a lot of looks
  • sleek 8 palette design

Cons:

  • not really a con———-> You HAVE to wear a primer to prevent creasing/long wear (which is true for most brands)
  • Petal Pusher palette colors are not as vibrant and not very friendly on darker skin
  • They sell out very quick so if you see them BUY THEM

Have you tried any of these Palettes? If so, which one do you like the most?

Ms. Brown If You’re Nasty

8 Sep

Hi Beauties,

It’s Fashion Week in New York…sure wish I was home but any who it’s time to think about Fall Fashion! I am starting a segment called “Marked” by Beauté Mark, where I hit the streets looking for dope fashion. Today’s special guest is none other than the beautiful, married, mother of three beautiful kids, and still looking fab as ever Tenisha Crews-Brown.

I had a chance to chat with Ms. Brown as she got a chance to get it in some “me” time at a local spot. She was casual, chic, and sophisticated. Let’s take a look at what she put together…..

  • Let’s start with the hair Modern Up-Do. I recently did a post on the return of the ponytail, it is a classic look  that can add sassiness to any look.
  • Oversized Gold HoopsThese earrings are a staple…you can never go wrong with hoops. They look great with the hair pulled back really making them a focal point.

OutfitChambray Blazer, Black Tank, Red Skinny Jeans. In case you didn’t get the memo Red is the new black this season.

Shoes: Cheetah Print Kitten Heels- I ANYTHING Animal Print.

The Look is completed with a yellow skinny belt and gold accented watch!

Thanks for your participation hun!

  PEACE…
