“Girl, How Did You Get Those Brows?”

23 Mar

Hi Beauties,

A few weeks ago I posted a pic that sparked a few questions about how I fill in my brows. My routine by NO means was an overnight success, it took a lot of trial and error to find one that worked.

I used to try to fill them in with eyeshadow, but they didn’t seem natural enough and sometimes very harsh looking. I also tried the pencil method, but the end result wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I started watching a lot of Youtube videos and began mixing both techniques with a little concealer to achieve the “BROWS” I proudly sport today.

image

Tools/Products Used: MAC Lip Pencil Chestnut , Sonia Kashuk flat angle brush (target) MAC NW45 Concealer, MAC flat brush (212 is similar number is rubbed off) w-Embark Eyeshadow, MAC Pencil Brush 219. I also love using a spooley brush, which is basically a mascara wand. It’s really good for grooming the eyebrows in place once you’ve filled them in.

Step 1-2

Outline brows (top & bottom) with the pencil of  your choice. Do not use black to outline or fill in the entire brow.  It is okay to use black if you use small, soft strokes to define the tail of your brow (end).

Step 3

Use a natural color eyeshadow with a flat brush to fill in your brows. Use extremely soft strokes as you fill in the outer portion, leaving the very tip semi filled in.

Step 4-5

Use concealer with a flat angle brush to outline and clean-up brows. This will make those brows POP and can also serve as a base for your eyebrow highlight.

Step 6

Use a small dense brush to feather the concealer into your skin.

Step 7

Starting at the outer tip, use the same dense brush to blend the concealer outward giving your brows a airbrushed faded look.

I Missed You & I’m Back

1 Sep

Hi Beauties,

I truly miss you guys…What’s going on? “How you doin?”

Anyways, we have so much catching up to do. I have no idea where to even start, but I would like to try by saying THANK YOU to all of my friends, fam, new and usual beauties. You guys are the reason that I am back at it again. It’s a wonderful feeling when I run into you Beauties and you tell how much you really like a lipstick or eyeshadow I recommended, a look that you got inspired by and tried, or hell the fact that you even trying things outside the box lol.

So I started a new venture, but in the height of my production I got a new job. God is good because it was so unexpected, but it also took me a little off track. Right now I am trying to find a happy medium for both. I’m not ready to spill the beans on my new project yet, but you better know that it is HAUTE

I don’t like breaking promises, so let’s start with a small commitment to catch up with you guys at least once a week. I’m also going to start doing more Face of the Day again, so please hold tight.

In between time I encourage you to reach out to me and let me know what you would like to talk about. Product reviews, relationships, hair, it really does not matter. We can talk about it all!

Don’t forget to follow me on twitter @beautemark

MARC JACOBS: NEW FRAGRANCE “DOT” Unveiled

10 Apr

Hi Beauties…Here is another MARC JACOBS exclusive! MJ is releasing a new fragrance called “DOT” in July. This will be the designer’s third fragrance after the debut of “Daisy” in 2007, and “Lola” in 2009. The bottle is very Springy looking with little black polka dots that look like lady bugs, butterflies, and a gold engraved label that reads Dot by MARC JACOBS. This fragrance features notes of red berries, dragon fruit, honeysuckle, jasmine, coconut water, orange blossom, vanilla, driftwood, and musk.

As much as I LOVE MARC JACOBS I will have to wait until some samples start floating around before I get too excited. But the die hea♥rt fan in me is just excited that he’s coming out with something new (like his cosmetic line). Please keep in mind that everyone’s body chemistry is different, so how it smells in the bottle or someone else may be different then how it will actually smell on your body. And since I’ve never been covered in Dragon Fruit it’s hard to make a determination based on the bottle lol.

MARC JACOBS: Launching a Cosmetic Line?!

10 Apr

Hi Beauties…last week was my son’s birthday, so I really didn’t get a chance to catch up on my weekly reading, blogs, entertainment, etc. Well yesterday I discovered some news that made my week. My favorite designer, MARC JACOBS is in talks with cosmetics giant Sephora to launch his own line. Can we say faints, cheers, and she dances across the room!!!!

MARC had his first meeting with Sephora, and shared the following with WWD.com “I see makeup, fragrance — everything, really — as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy. We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”

Now you guys know how I feel about Marc, from his handbags and clothing to his infamous floral fragrant scents (SN:Dot is coming out in July)this man knows how to make a woman feel and smell good! I can’t wait to see the color range of eyeshadows, lipsticks, maybe even blush… as MJ has the eye of a Color Fairly God when creating his masterpieces. There is no release date at this time, but you better believe that I am going ham like a kid in a candy store when the time comes. I will keep you guys posted with any updates that I come across.

Look of the day: Blue Ivy

22 Mar

Hi Beauties…I decided to go out yesterday and enjoy the beautiful weather. I had to do a little running around so I wanted to be comfortable yet stylish. I layered a pinstripe blouse with a chunky small necklace, and a longer link one. The earrings, blue cocktail ring, and blue arm cuff are my fave. They are vintage pieces from my grandmother’s collection that I paired with a few gold bracelets. I put on a pair of old jeans, floral wedges, and a blue studded out bag. “Blue Ivy” look of the day. I hope you enjoy!!!!

CLuTch Alert: Alexander McQueen De-Manta

19 Mar

Hi Beauties…I was online doing some virtual shopping when I ran across these Alexander McQueen De-Manta clutches that stopped me in my tracks. I am at a point in my life where I only purchase pieces that I ♥ and REALLY  speak to me. I can’t really explain,  but it’s the joy in connecting with a piece that has YOUR personal style written all over it. It’s like the designer had you in when they created that item….pure fashion bliss! Anywho without further adieu…THE BAGS (the first two SPEAK to me)!!

Your nails should be no exception…one easy way to introduce color into your outfit is with a quick polish change.
